Bernd Kirschner of Hola Vespa specialises in Spanish Vespas; his workshop is based in southern Germany's Bavaria region and he regularly visits España, importing vintage scooters.

Circumnavigating the island, taking in the cities and towns of Palermo, Taormina, Gela and Marsala and the tre mari, or three seas, that surround Sicily.

“Quattro Stagioni” - not talking about the pizza variety, an option found on the menus of many pizza restaurants these days, I refer instead to an Italian term meaning “Four Seasons”.

When holidaying overseas, particularly in Italy, I often keep an eye out for classic Vespas, listening for that all too familiar “pop-pop” of a Vespa’s engine.

I say London to Brighton ride.. for me it was a Tring to Epsom to North London ride!

My day off yesterday was spent at Retrospective Scooters; having taken my Motovespa GT160 in for a service, following the winter break. An MOT is no longer required but I would rather be safe than sorry!

‘Amici in Vespa’ translates as Vespa Friends or Friends on a Vespa; which sums it up perfectly! My Italian vespista friend Federico Savogin sent me this lovely old photo of his club back in the day.
