Well that was Easter - some lovely weather and perfect for getting out and about on scooters. We were visiting family on the Friday and Saturday and hosted friends back at home on the Sunday and Monday.
While driving up to the north Norfolk coast on Good Friday, along with a good portion of the rest of the country’s sun seeking population, we were passed by a few classic scooters taking advantage of the warm, sunny conditions. My own scootering amounted to a much needed brush down on Sunday to get rid of the accumulated road dirt clinging to the underside of my Vespa's engine and bodywork - dirty work but made better in the sunshine!
Dario Cena, President of Vespa Club Busto Arsizio - AMICINVESPA sent me the above greeting along with these nice period images..
This period promotional advert states -
“On May 10th, one of the 25 working days between March 31 and April 30 will be drawn at random. All those who ordered a Vespa on the day drawn will receive it free of charge. The rules of the competition authorized by the Ministry of Finance are being distributed by the 1396 sales agencies”
That’s quite an offer and in the early 1950s may suggest that April was usually a quiet sales month..!?
Many thanks to Dario for the above images and Easter greetings - Dario, Buona Pasqua a te ; )
