Twin Castle Navigation for Vespas as well

Twin Castle Navigation

Following on from the success in recent years of the Vintage Scooter Ride from London to Brighton and around the Chiltern Hills, London Lambretta Club and Friends have been out on the road (literally) and bring a new picturesque route for this year's gathering in ‘The Twin Castle Navigation’ from 10am on Saturday 18th May 2024.

This ride is specifically for the older vintage model scooters only with the participating criteria being shaft driven Lambretta from model A to F including LC & LD, all wideframe and Vespa models up to 1959 and all other similar aged vintage scooter marques up to 1958 from Germany, France, England, Spain, Czech. Etc.

Beginning near Colchester Castle, we cross over the border into Suffolk on minor roads to take in countryside villages and places of interest in a circular route of approximately 85 miles. The format is slightly different this year as we wish to challenge the participants with a navigation. A route schedule will be passed out on the morning providing all participants with overview directions of which you need to navigate between. A few pitstop locations are planned with the primary one being adjacent to the second castle of the day and the final leg brings us back to the starting point.

If interested, please register as going on the event Facebook page – search Twin Castle Navigation. This ride is organised by enthusiasts for enthusiasts and all participants enter at their own risk, must ensure their vehicle is road worthy and complies with UK law. Remember maximum throttle, minimum effect!

North West of Ireland Rally, any further west and you're in New York

Achill Island lies off Co Mayo on the West coast of Ireland. Achill is known for its breathtaking scenery and stunning views having some of the highest and most spectacular cliff faces in Europe. There are five blue flag beaches on Achill with Keel Beach and The Strand Beach at Keem Bay being the most popular. Dugort beach is located directly across the road from the campsite. The route from the campsite to Keem Bay is something to behold when travelled on a Vespa (not for the fainthearted). There are many places of interest to visit on the Island, including, The Deserted Village, The Tower at Kildavnet ( home to legendary Irish pirate queen Granuaile) and The Aquarium and visitor centre. There are organised tours to some of these places which we can investigate if people are interested.

Carfest August Bank Holiday

The organisers of this year's Carfest are staging a Retrofest section and have asked if any of our members would like to display their Vespa in the 60s section.

The dates are 25th - 28th August (a busy weekend for scooterists} and will be staged at Jody Scheckter's farm near Basingstoke RG25 3DR.

As recompense for staging your scooter you will be entitled to a 3 day admission ticket for two including camping for a total of £55 instead of £233 each. If you have a campervan or caravan you will require an additional permit.

The organisers would prefer you to dress to match the period but this isn't mandatory. Carfest is an enormous charity fundraiser incorporating cars, bikes, bands, DJs and celebrities.

If you fancy it, email Alex on hello@thenostalgiashow.com or for general info about the show www.carfest.org
